Job Description

Thenamaris invites high caliber professionals with the requested qualifications, to apply for the Performance Engineer position in the Energy Performance Department.

The Energy Performance Department of Thenamaris is assigned with the mission to improve the company’s Energy Efficiency, Emissions Reduction and Decarbonization Policy onshore and on board the vessels. Our specialized Engineers monitor, evaluate, report and optimize the fleet’s energy performance and exchange information with the technical and commercial departments in Thenamaris.

The Performance Engineer is responsible to monitor, evaluate, and report on the energy performance, fuel consumption and emissions of individual vessels or fleets. The role involves creating baselines, detecting deviations and producing optimizations. Technical investigations, reporting on regulatory compliance, onboard audits, training activities of onshore and crew personnel as well as analyses of historical data and simulations are key activities. The Performance Engineer participates in the development of tools to monitor, analyze, and report on the energy performance of the vessels and/or forecast the performance and maintenance needs of key equipment.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • University degree in Naval Architecture and / or Marine Engineering
  • Desired knowledge in the following areas; shipping emissions and regulations, hydrodynamics and propulsion, marine engines and energy systems, heat transfer and thermodynamics
  • Three (3) to seven (7) years of related professional experience or post-graduate research work in any of the knowledge areas mentioned above
  • Solid programming skills with object-oriented languages and databases (Python, SQL)
  • Data analytics, optimization, advanced statistics and / or machine learning techniques
  • Modeling and simulation methodologies / tools
  • Proficiency in English at an oral and written level
  • Familiarity with Project Management philosophy and practices
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and perform as a team member
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present solutions to all levels of internal business stakeholders
