Position Description

The Estimation Engineer is responsible for processing all data related to quotations and actual costs as received from workshops and ship repairers regarding maintenance, repair and retrofit projects, and to propose cost-saving strategies for current and future projects.

The role must ensure that the database with price lists, quality, efficiency and turnover data for shipyards, ship repairers and workshops worldwide is consistently being reviewed and revised, and perform analysis for the production of ad-hoc as well as standard reports to facilitate effective decision-making.

Other key responsibilities of the role include developing cost estimates, checking invoiced amounts versus estimates and actual deliverables, monitoring the settlement of outstanding invoices and disputable charged costs, as well as performing market research for new prospective subcontractors, workshops and ship-repairers and actively participating in the negotiations for the assignment of projects.

Candidates applying should have the following profile:

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering from a University or Technical Institution
  • 3 to 5 years of working experience in a similar role is desired. Previous experience as Estimator in marine or other heavy industry would be ideal
  • Previous experience with PMS and ERP Systems would be considered a strong asset
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively; diligent with a strong customer service attitude and attention to detail
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel
  • Proficiency in English, both written and oral
  • Familiarity with databases is a strong asset

The position is permanent and is based at the company’s headquarters, in Athens (Vouliagmeni) Greece.
