Accreditations

The International Safety Management code focuses on the safe management and operation of ships and pollution prevention. The company got its ISM certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in 1997.

The company’s high standards and exceptional performance is recognized by many participants in the shipping industry. In order to officially attest and verify this common belief and to assess and  ascertain  the quality of the company’s  management system, practices and procedures, Thenamaris has invited Det Norske Veritas and other major organizations to certify the company’s exceptional performance and to pursue such accreditations with regular follow up  audits.

Following these assessments and audits, Thenamaris was granted with all the international code and standards certification applicable to management systems in the shipping industry and more particularly with the following accreditations and /or compliance certificates:

ISM Certified 
The International Safety Management code focuses on the safe management and operation of ships and pollution prevention. The company got its ISM certification from Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in 1997.

ISO 9001: 2001 Quality Certification 
The ISO 9001 accreditation is designed to ensure that customer requirements for quality are met. Being a ship management company, Thenamaris customers are at the same time both the Shipowners and the Charterers. Providing both Shipowners and Charterers with quality services and caring for the vessels and the cargoes, by performing the voyages safely and smoothly, by monitoring ship’s performance against Charterparty requirements, and by effectively controlling non-conformities, are  areas which were assessed before Accreditation, which took place in the year 2001.   

ISO 14001: 2004 Environmental Certification
ISO 14001 provides the elements of an effective environmental management system. A key issue in ISO 14001 is the need to assess all environmental aspects related to the company’s activities, products and services. The significant environmental aspects have been identified and are managed accordingly. Accreditation obtained in 2004.

OHSAS 18001: Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Certification
OHSAS 18001 prescribes requirements for a safe Occupational Health and Safety Management system so as to control the Occupational Health and Safety risks and to improve its performance. After carrying out an assessment of the Occupational Health and Safety hazards and on being satisfied that a safety management system is implemented in these areas, DNV granted to Thenamaris the OHSAS 18001 certification in 2007.

ECOPRO
ECOPRO is an exceptional compliance program controlled by the State of Washington (Department of Ecology) that aims to help mitigate the risk of pollution in the states territorial waters. This voluntary program certifies that a company/ship has implemented additional controls and safety measures in its processes that help protect the environment and eliminate the risk of pollution. Enrollment and accreditation obtained in 2001.

Green Award
The Green Award is awarded to vessels which are extra safe and extra clean. The Green Award certificate confirms the high quality of the vessel and it contributes to a positive image of the ship owner with all the advantages this entails. Green Award checks on a yearly basis if a vessel still meets the requirements. The company enrolled into the Green Award program in 1997. Today, nine (9) Tankers are flying the Green Award.

MLC 2006
The Maritime Labour Convention is an initiative of the International Labour Organization created to implement guidelines and regulations, applicable to Port State Control Inspections, which aim to safeguard the seafarer's wellbeing and safety in all aspects of their living and working onboard.
People on board are a core value for Thenamaris, therefore following the company’s policy to treat all respected issues with utmost responsibility and priority, Thenamaris carried out an assessment of the Management Systems and is the first company worldwide to be accredited with a Voluntary Declaration of Maritime Labour Compliance by DNV in November 2009, before the Convention being ratified and entered into force and with a Statement of Compliance with the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 for the M/T SEACROWN.
